Veprinac Ghost Tour

Ticket: €9 (payable at the event)

Night has fallen over the medieval town of Veprinac. The empty streets lie in semi-darkness, and next to the roadside cross at the entrance to the town, you are greeted by Countess Ana Wallsee, your guide on this nighttime tour. Standing on ancient stone slabs, surrounded by the sound of crickets, Countess Wallsee draws you into the secrets of forgotten folk fantasy, and before your eyes, the forgotten imaginary world of the terra incognita you have entered slowly awakens.

You will learn that in these parts it has long been believed that the world around us is inhabited by certain supernatural beings — although not all of them were benevolent. Centuries-old stories from this region see our world as a stage on which the forces of good and evil clash.

Before you plunge into the alternative reality of Kvarner at night, where the testimonies of folk mysticism will come alive around you, Countess Ana equips you with lanterns burning with the protective light of St. John’s Eve. Thus shielded from evil forces, you set off toward the long shadows as the dark entrance to the mysterious Veprinac castle opens before you…

The Veprinac Ghost Tour uses elements of folk fantasy, weaving them together with historical records to build an exciting story into which the audience plunges like in a gripping thriller. It is a hybrid form between a tourist sightseeing tour and a staged performance in which viewers actively participate.

A licensed tourist guide and heritage interpreter, in the role of Countess Ana Wallsee of Veprinac, leads visitors through the sleepy streets of the old town, while actors positioned at various points embody supernatural beings and, through interaction with the audience, bring to life a bygone era where the magical intertwined with the real.
